Alfredo
is a good quality dairy restaurant in Petach Tikva's Ezorim high tech
park in Kiryat Aryeh. The restaurant is located on the upper floor of
a two story building overlooking spacious grounds, a decorative pool
and waterfall. It is a very picturesque and pleasant location.
There is ample parking but the entrance to the restaurant from the parking
lot is not obvious. You end up going behind the restaurant and up a
level by elevator. Follow the signs and you'll be ok.
The Decor:
The restaurant has a very pleasant and tasteful decor, appropriate for
a yuppie restaurant usually filled with young high techies. The walls
are wood paneled with matching tables and chairs. There is a large glittery
bar at the entrance to the restaurant. The dining area is well lit and
you can see your food.
To the restaurant's credit, they are quite strict about non-smoking,
and smokers are relegated to the outside patio. The problem is that
this is the best seating in the house and it seems unfair to reward
smokers with this perk. But other than to ban smoking entirely (which
would not be such a bad idea) I don't see any way to solve
this problem.
The Menu:
My companion and I had a lovely and enjoyable dinner at Alfredo restaurant.
We were most impressed by the little extras that they do there. The
presentation of the food is noteworthy and the service is a cut above.
For example, the waitress changes the napkin and silverware between
courses. This did not go unnoticed, and puts Alfredos at least one step
above other Israeli restaurants in our book.
My companion and I began our meals with a mushroom soup and the eggplant
rolls appetizer. The soup was made with fresh mushrooms and was topped
with more of the same. It was served in a tureen made out of hollowed
out loaf of bread. The bread went well with the thick creamy soup, resulting
in a very filling dish, more than enough for an individual.
I chose the eggplant rolls as my appetizer at the waitress' recommendation.
These are strips of cooked eggplant rolled around white cheese and vegetables
and served on a bed of salad greens. In some restaurants the eggplant
in this dish is not cooked sufficiently, leaving a bitter taste, but this was not the case at Alfredos
where they were excellent. The salad greens were served with a delightful
unobtrusive dressing.This
dish was light but plentiful. I
believe that this is one of their signature dishes, and rightly so.
We deliberated for some time about our main course because there was
so much to choose from. My
companion settled on a pasta dish and a lasagna. He was
served a very generous bowl of pasta with a creamy sauce of tomatoes, mushrooms, and olives. I chose the lasagna with four cheeses, again,
at the recommendation of the waitress. The
lasagna was baked in the serving dish and was very tasty. I
was quite pleased with this dish that was served with a generous bowl
of salad.
The
food was plentiful and delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant so
we decided to linger for a few minutes over a hot cuppa and a dessert.
The waitress brought a platter of desserts to our table for us to choose from. This was a very nice
touch and a cut above the usual system of getting up and choosing from
the case. Again we were impressed with the level of service at this
restaurant.
The restaurant is sizable and is appropriate for groups. Several groups
had arrived at the restaurant by the time we were up to dessert and
the room became incredibly noisy. Despite efforts to improve the acoustics
with ceiling fixtures, the noise level in the restaurant can become
overwhelming.
Our bill for this very pleasant culinary treat was NIS 190. We were
quite pleased to leave our waitress a sizable tip for a job well done.
Since the cost of our dinner at the restaurant was below what one would
normally pay for this quality food and service. We found this restaurant
to be good value for the money.
