Who says that there are no good restaurants in Givaat Shmuel?
The just opened New-Deli meat sandwich shop is a step in the right direction. This is a sandwich shop that is more than just a sandwich shop. It all starts with the breads baked fresh on premises every day. Add to that fresh vegetables, and unique sauces and you can begin to see why New-Deli surpassed all expectations considering its modest design.
The menu starts with the sandwiches. All of the meat is specially prepared in Rosh Haayin by a local deli expert. One in our party was from the deli Mecca:Chicago. She said that the quality of the New-Deli meat stands on its own which is high praise indeed. All the sandwiches are prepared before your very eyes. With such delicious choices as Peppered Beef, Honey Turkey and Corned Beef there are many ways to satisfy your deli craving.
One can order a variety of sandwiches and the staff is only too willing to accommodate. For people with other preferences, New-Deli offers chicken and steak sandwiches that are marinated in the special New-Deli sauce. There is a salad option for those so inclined.
My companions and I ordered the hot sandwiches. Marinated Chicken, Lamb, and I had the Philadelphia Steak Sandwich. All the sandwiches come on your choice of bread. New-Deli recently added rye bread for a true American Deli feel. The Chicken was soft and flavorful, the Steak marinade was fantastic, and the Lamb burger comes shaped like a plank so it fits perfectly in the bun. We all chose our own toppings and sauces. They have all the fixings like lettuce tomatoes and pickles but the best of all are the fried onions that melt in your mouth.
We also ordered the breaded chicken wings which were crispy and delicious and went great with the chili sauce (more tangy than spicy). For fans of the classic American beverages that are somewhat hard to come by in Israel they have Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and a full line of Dr. Brown?s.
All in all it was an enjoyable meal from a sandwich shop that offers more than expected.
Sandwiches and a couple of add-ons for three came to NIS 140.
If you can’t make it to the restaurant, New-Deli delivers. Delivery is 5 NIS with a 35 NIS minimum. And don’t forget to let New Deli make your Shabbat, simcha or party with their meat platters. Just call for details and prices – you won’t be sorry!
