An excellent wine but with a limitation - it is not the '98. Once again, until I tasted the Barkan Merlot '98, I enjoyed the '97. In fact, I would have sworn by the quality of this '97, but now there is truly no comparison. Good for Barkan, they improved their product. This merlot is light and not very complicated with only minimal depth. As such it is inferior to the '98, even though it is more expensive. All that being said, the Barkan Merlot '97 is still an excellent wine and a good value for the money. It is a wine to be enjoyed with good friends or at least, good food.
