Vineyard:
Dalton, Canaan
Wine: Cabernet Merlot Blend, 1999
Type: Dry Red
The color of this Dalton wine is a rich, deep red - with an
almost purple hue. The taste is smooth, and leaves a very distinct,
but pleasant, aftertaste when swallowed. This wine has a kick
to it. It is a very young wine and only time will tell how it
ages in the bottle. Today, the wine is dry and full of body.
It contains sulfites and is 12.5% alcohol. My major critique
of this wine is not with the taste, but with the cork. Dalton
has taken a very fine wine and skimped on the cork. It is a
composite cork and may potentially fail and thereby compromise
the taste of the wine. This is a wine worth trying.
