Vineyard:
Herzog California
Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon 1997
Type: Dry Red
This cabernet sauvignon is made from a combination of
grapes from the Napa and Alexander Valleys in California. Its
'sister wine', the Herzog California Special Edition from the
Alexander Valley, is probably the best wine I've tasted in years.
Unfortunately, this wine falls far short of the fabulous Herzog
Selected. It also falls far short of many other cabernet sauvignon
wines.
This
Herzog California wine has nearly no bouquet. The taste is spotty - when
first opened it is difficult to believe that one paid money for this
bottle of wine. But be persistent. After left to breathe for many more
hours, it becomes surprisingly good and drinkable.
